Blooming fund raiser. The RCTC Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management program will be selling annual plants and flowers at the Jackson Road Cruise, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., May 22 at 7881 Jackson Rd., located at Calvert Dr., west of Baker Rd. Proceeds from the sale will be used to develop raised garden beds and a greenhouse. The fundraiser is sponsored by the Ann Arbor Eagles and Pinter Brothers Nursery. Details: (734) 714-1275.
Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management - open to third and fourth year students.
This course opens the door to what is the second largest industry world-wide. By laying a foundation of entry-level training in the operations and management of hotels and restaurants, the course prepares students to enter the work place on the fast track to management.
The course curriculum spans the entire hospitality industry including the basics of cooking, nutrition science and technology, sanitation and hygiene, customer service fundamentals, as well as the essentials of cost analysis.
In this class, students may also gain a full credit in mathematics and applied arts toward their diploma. In addition, while in high school, students may earn college credits at Washtenaw Community College or to other colleges via articulation agreements with these schools. With instructor's permission, students may elect this class for a second year.
