Construction Technology - open to third and fourth year students.

RCTC Construction Tech is a two-year comprehensive on-site student home building class. The students build a home from foundation to landscaping. Students learn hands on skills that encompass all major construction trades.

Emphasis is placed on student's personal responsibility, team training, and leadership development. In the first year, students build the foundation, frame the structure and roof, as well as complete all the exterior finishes. In the second year of the building cycle, students complete the interior construction, install the rough and finish mechanical, as well as all the interior finishes. Students also have the opportunity to compete at the Skills USA competitions in the spring of each year.

In this class, students may also gain a full credit in mathematics and applied arts toward their diploma. In addition, while in high school, students might earn college credits at Washtenaw Community College or to other colleges via articulation agreements with these schools. With instructor's permission, students may elect this class for a second year.
