NAAPID - National African American Parent Involvement Day

National African American Parent Involvement Day is Monday, February 11, 2008 and all parents are encouraged to visit their children in school. Each YPS school will host a reception area for parents and many schools plan special activities for this day.

NAAPID at NIGHT, a student talent showcase, is 5:30 p.m. Monday, February 11 at Ann Arbor's Pioneer High School, 601 W. Stadium (visitors, please use the "flag pole" Main Street entrance). The evening will begin with registration and light refreshments, prepared by the Ann Arbor Public School's culinary arts students. The student talent showcase will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. Students from Ypsilanti Public Schools that will be performing include the Ypsilanti High School Chamber Singers and the YHS Drama Students, presenting a skit that they performed in Scotland during their August 2007 visit. NAAPID poster contest winners will have their work attractively displayed in the school lobby and winners will be recognized during the program. Each participating Washtenaw County school district will have a table in the foyer, showcasing student academic or art work.
